Art by Fire

This is a piece of copper 36″x 72″ that was in my storage container during the fire that wipe out the town of Paradise Ca and parts of Magalia Ca. All the color and design was cause by fire. I clean up the copper and cover it in a layer of epoxy to preserve. The fire took about 50 pieces of my art and left me with this and few others that I am working on. thanks for looking, Nick Knezic

This is a painting from 2017, in acrylic on canvas, 90 cm x 70 cm, influenced by Russian constructivism and Brazilian neoconcrete movement, where geometry leads everything.

OK, I’m ready and willing to carry this out

This 1976 cartoon by Edmund Valtman shows the white Southern Rhodesia Prime Minister Ian Smith (left), talking to Secretary of State Henry Kissinger (right).  Under Smith’s leadership, Southern Rhodesia declared its independence from Great Britain in 1965. Only after international economic sanctions brought the country to the brink of disaster in 1976 did he reluctantly accept a plan proposed by Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and British Prime Minister James Callaghan to transfer power to the black majority within two years. However, it took a number of years before the country became fully independent under its new name, Zimbabwe.
